What this is

End-to-end accounting services for Indian small businesses — coordinated by Batchwise, delivered by a vetted partner Chartered Accountant under their own credentials. Two access modes:

  1. Monthly accounting subscription (from ₹1,999/month) — ongoing monthly transaction entry, reconciliation, MIS, and compliance prep. Tiered by transaction volume.
  2. Year-end book finalisation (₹4,999 one-time) — useful if you maintain books yourself during the year and need a professional close before tax filing.

Batchwise itself does not maintain books or sign assurance reports. All accounting outputs are produced by the partner under their own software, credentials, and professional indemnity.

What's included in monthly accounting

  • Monthly transaction entry in Tally / Zoho / QuickBooks (or your existing software)
  • Bank reconciliation for all bank + payment gateway accounts
  • Ledger scrutiny — review for misclassifications, unusual entries, missing receipts
  • GST register maintenance with GSTR-2B reconciliation
  • TDS register maintenance aligned to Form 26AS
  • Monthly MIS pack — P&L summary, key ratios, debtor / creditor ageing
  • Quarterly trial balance with variance commentary
  • Year-end finalisation included (no separate fee) for any active subscription that ran through the financial year
  • Compliance hand-off — books ready to feed into GST return filing, TDS return filing, ITR filing, statutory audit (where applicable)

Who this is for

  • Proprietors and freelancers with material operating expenses needing structured monthly books for GST + ITR.
  • Small businesses (turnover ₹40 lakh to ₹10 crore) with GST registration and 1–2 GSTINs.
  • Partnerships and LLPs required to maintain books under partnership / LLP law.
  • Private limited companies needing books for statutory audit, ROC filing, and tax filing.
  • Founders moving from in-house accountant attrition — partner CA delivery removes single-point-of-failure risk.
  • Cross-over cases from spreadsheet to Tally / Zoho — migration + opening-balance setup included in first month.

How it works

  1. Sign up + choose tier. Razorpay (UPI / netbanking / card / corporate account). Starter / Standard / Pro / Enterprise based on monthly transaction volume.
  2. Document upload. Dashboard checklist surfaces what to upload — bank statements, sales invoices, purchase bills, expense vouchers, payroll register (if applicable). Initial month also includes opening balances + chart of accounts.
  3. Partner matched. Vetted partner CA matched on software familiarity (Tally / Zoho / QuickBooks) + industry vertical.
  4. Monthly delivery. Partner closes the books within 5–7 working days of receiving complete inputs. MIS pack + flagged items shared via dashboard.
  5. Compliance feed-through. Closed books feed into your GST return filing, TDS return filing, and ITR filing — naturally bundled, no rework.

Frequently asked questions

How much do accounting services cost for a small business in India?

On Batchwise, monthly accounting subscriptions start at ₹1,999 per month for businesses with up to 50 transactions per month (Starter tier), ₹3,499 per month for 50–200 transactions (Standard), and ₹7,499 per month for 200–500 transactions (Pro). Year-end book finalisation as a one-time engagement is ₹4,999. Add-on services (GST return filing ₹999/month, ITR filing from ₹999, TDS return filing ₹1,499/quarter, payroll from ₹2,999) are priced separately. All fees are GST-exclusive. Indicative competitor benchmarks based on publicly available pricing pages as of May 2026: EZTax published ₹1,999–₹3,999/month; eBizFiling published from ₹3,499/month; IndiaFilings and Vakilsearch typically do not publish per-month pricing transparently. Competitor pricing is subject to change by the respective platforms.

What is included in monthly accounting services?

Monthly transaction entry in Tally / Zoho / QuickBooks (or whichever software you already use), monthly bank reconciliation, ledger scrutiny for misclassifications, GST register maintenance with reconciliation against GSTR-2B, TDS register maintenance, monthly MIS pack (P&L summary, key ratios, debtor / creditor ageing), quarterly trial balance with variance commentary, and year-end book finalisation included at no extra fee within an active subscription. Compliance filings (GST, TDS, ITR) are separate à la carte services that bundle naturally with monthly accounting.

Does Batchwise do the accounting itself, or a CA?

Batchwise does not maintain books itself. The engagement is routed to a vetted partner — typically a Chartered Accountant in practice, an experienced accountant, or a CA firm associate — who maintains the books under their own credentials and software. Batchwise coordinates the workflow, hosts your documents on the dashboard, and handles all customer-facing interactions. All accounting outputs are partner-signed.

Which accounting software do you support?

Tally ERP 9 / Tally Prime (most common for Indian SMEs), Zoho Books, QuickBooks Online, ProfitBooks, BUSY accounting, Vyapar, ClearOne, and spreadsheet-based bookkeeping. The vetted partner is matched based on software familiarity. If you use less-common software, exports as Excel / CSV are accepted and the partner works in their preferred environment.

Is monthly accounting mandatory for a small business?

Statutorily, only businesses crossing certain thresholds must maintain books — companies under Section 128 of the Companies Act 2013, professionals + businesses crossing Section 44AA Income Tax Act 1961 thresholds, and LLPs under Section 34 of the LLP Act 2008. Section 44AA thresholds: for specified professionals, gross receipts above ₹1.5 lakh in any of the 3 preceding years; for individuals + HUFs in business, income above ₹2.5 lakh or turnover above ₹25 lakh (per the Finance Act 2017 proviso); for other taxpayers (companies, firms, etc.) in business, income above ₹1.2 lakh or turnover above ₹10 lakh. Practically, every business with GST registration, employees, or external financing needs structured monthly bookkeeping — even where not statutorily required — because GST return filing, TDS return filing, and bank-credit assessments all assume monthly-closed books. **IT Act 2025 transition note:** From 1 April 2026, the corresponding requirements consolidate under the Income-tax Act, 2025 with substantive policy unchanged. See the [IT Act 2025 transition reference](/income-tax/income-tax-act-2025-transition-india/).

Can I switch from my existing accountant to Batchwise?

Yes. Provide opening balances (last year-end balance sheet) and the chart of accounts you currently use; the partner reviews and continues from your existing books, or migrates the chart of accounts to a standard structure if the existing one has gaps. There is no break in continuity — month N closes with your existing accountant; month N+1 onwards is on Batchwise. Migration assistance is included in the first month of subscription at no extra fee.

How is this different from hiring an in-house accountant?

Three differences. (1) Cost — an in-house accountant in metro India costs ₹25,000–₹50,000 per month for a junior, ₹60,000–₹1,20,000 for a senior; Batchwise monthly subscription tops out at ₹7,499/month for Pro tier (or custom Enterprise). (2) Scope — in-house accountants typically handle one business; partner CAs on Batchwise also handle your GST, TDS, ITR, ROC, and audit-prep work within their professional remit. (3) Continuity — in-house attrition and leave creates gaps; the partner pool is matched and re-routed if a partner becomes unavailable. For businesses needing full-time accounting headcount (50+ employees, very high transaction volume, daily cash management), in-house may be appropriate; for most SMEs below that threshold, coordinated partner CA delivery via Batchwise is more economical.
